Caregiver Support Group

Caregiver Support Group

Caring… it’s not the hard part of caregiving.

The Caregiver Support Group meets monthly from 6-7:30 PM, facilitated by Susan Read, MS,RN.
Our group is FREE and open to the public and meets the third Monday of the month. Please check our calendar for upcoming dates.
The group provides a source of emotional and social support and resources for those caring for a loved one.
We offer self-care strategies and tools to reduce stress and enhance coping. We welcome adults, spouses, family members or friends in the caregiver role to attend.
For those who prefer to do so, the program is also being offered virtually via Zoom.
Please contact The Good News Center at 315-735-6210 Monday-Friday 8:30 AM-4:30 PM to register whether attending in-person or virtually.

The National Alliance for Caregiving (NAC) and AARP collaborated on Caregiving in the U.S. 2020 – an update to the organizations’ research report series conducted roughly every five years. The 2020 update reveals an increase in the number of family caregivers in the United States of 9.5 million from 2015 to 2020. Family caregivers now encompass more than one in five Americans. The study also reveals that family caregivers are in worse health compared to five years ago. As the demand for caregiving rises with an aging population, there is an opportunity for the public and private sectors to work together to develop solutions to support family caregivers and those under their care.
