Join The Good News Center for An Evening with Darryl Strawberry: Don’t Give Up On Me, Thursday, April 7, 2022.

While many of you may know Mr. Strawberry as a gifted baseball player, we chose him as a speaker because of the adversities that he has overcome in order to be where he is now. Not only is he a cancer survivor, but he has overcome his battle with addiction and turned to God to be his strength during these times of crisis. He ultimately became a minister in response to God’s call.

Don't Give Up On Me

an evening with Darryl Strawberry

The Good News Center welcomes legendary baseball player and Pastor Darryl Strawberry, Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Hart’s Hill Inn. Darryl’s career consisted of 335 home runs, was the first overall pick in 1980 by the New York Mets and won World Series titles with the Mets (1986) and New York Yankees (1996, 1998 and 1999).

Life after baseball has taken Strawberry from a troubled man to redemption. Strawberry has found a purpose to help people by speaking about his past struggles with drug addiction and alcohol abuse. He admits it wasn’t an overnight process, but took time to get where he is now.

Strawberry states "I finally found my purpose in life." His personal struggles of addiction, divorce and marriage issues, are all supported by programs offered by The Good News Center. All proceeds from this event will benefit those programs.

Do you know someone who needs to hear his message? We do. We are partnering with Center for Family Life and Recovery and Herkimer Catholic Charities to bring community members with personal experiences who would benefit from hearing Darryl's message. To remove any barriers to attending, we are looking for sponsors to help these community members experience what we hope will be a motivating event that is supportive and inspirational to their own journey.

We are looking for twenty-four $25 sponsors to send eight individuals to the event.

To date we have had enough donations to sponsor 14 individuals to hear Darryl Strawberry's message of hope!
